Course Materials for Online Courses
DEN's Instructional Support Center provides assistance in converting and posting notes created in your class. Whether the notes are handwritten or electronic, the Instructional Support Center can digitize the notes to Adobe Acrobat PDF, a widely-used format, for your students and colleagues to review.

Course Material Posting Procedure

  • Turn in your lecture notes and handouts to the Instructional Support Center (OHE 142) before or after class. If you have digital notes please post them directly to your course page on Blackboard. You may also email the file to dennotes@usc.edu at least 24 hours before expected post time, if it must be converted to SMARTBoard or PDF prior to posting.
  • Fill out the proper Document Submittal form provided by the Instructional Support Center with your instructions regarding scanning and posting. If you are e-mailing a file, please provide specific instructions along with the course number and the file name.
  • Lecture notes will be posted in the 'DEN Documents' link under the 'Course Documents' section of your DEN Blackboard course page on the same business day.

SMARTBoard Electronic Notes

  • After class, save SMARTBoard notes in your course folder (ex. 'EE 555') located in the "My Documents" folder on the desktop of the classroom computer*.
  • The Instructional Support Center will convert your SMARTBoard file into a universally readable Adobe Acrobat PDF document.
  • The PDF document will be posted in the 'DEN Documents' link under the 'Course Documents' section of your course page on the same business day.

* Please remember to "Save" your file and then "Close" SMART Board before leaving the classroom. Click here for instructions on how to use the SMART Board.

Course Material Conversion

Instructors often need support converting older notes into modern, digital formats. The Instructional Support Center is prepared to assist online teachers with this process. Simply visit our offices in OHE 142 with your materials for a consultation on how we can help you.

If you have any questions about your course materials, call the DEN Instructional Support Center at (213) 740-9356 or email dennotes@usc.edu.
