Computer Accounts
As a new student at USC, you will want to use email and access USC's digital library services as soon as possible. USC Information Services Division (ISD) provides access to these essential resources and help when you need it.
Computer accounts are automatically created for Admitted & Limited students enrolled at USC.
- USC Email Communication Policy
All Admitted and Limited students are charged a $35 engineering access fee each semester. This fee appears on your fee bill. Faculty and other university offices may use your USC email address as the primary means of communication with you. As a USC student, you are responsible for checking this account regularly.

- Activate Your USC E-mail Account
To activate your USC e-mail/UNIX account, please click here.
- Set Up Your Virtual Private Network (VPN)
You can now use your computer account with the help of a virtual private network (VPN) client to access restricted electronic resources while dialing to your ISP. For information on VPN software from USC, click here. VPN, also called IP tunneling, is a secure method of accessing USC computer resources.
- USC Servers
The host for all engineering student computer accounts is: aludra.usc.edu. If you used a USC computer account in past semesters, your username and password remains unchanged. If you cannot remember your username or password, contact the USC computer consultants at (213) 740-5555 to have your account reset.
If you have problems, i.e., you receive a message indicating you don’t have an account, Admitted and Limited students should contact the USC computer consultants at (213) 740-5555.
