Academic Advisement Students should contact their department advisors for all curriculum and degree requirements questions. Enrollment in engineering classes is generally by departmental permission ("d-clearance"). Permission is given after advisement by faculty members. Procedures for selcting your advisor vary in each department. Some departments may assign an advisor in advance, while others will wait until you arrive so that they can ask you about your areas of interest and then refer you to an appropriate professor.
