| Things To Do BEFORE You Register For Courses |
 |
Verify your registration appointment time
Check your permit to register link in OASIS. If this is your first time logging on, your default password is your 6 digit birthday (mmddyy). This is also your PIN for Web Registration.
View and clear any restrictions or holds before registering
Check OASIS for any additional restrictions or holds. Determine which course(s) you want to register for and check the following section for more information about 'Types of Restrictions, Holds, and Course D-Clearances'
Contact your academic advisors if necessary
Students with any specific degree completion questions, course specific or course credit questions should contact their Department Advisor.
Activate your USC Email
USC email is the official and preferred method of communication between USC and students. Students must activate their email accounts and check it regularly or have it forward to an account that is regularly accessed. Activate and check email at http://email.usc.edu.
Web Registration
Students can register for courses directly online through USC's Web Registration system. Your login information will be the same for OASIS. Students with any restrictions or course holds should view the next section.

| Types of Restrictions, Holds, and Course D-Clearances |
 |
D-Clearance
Any 5-digit course section ending with a "D" requires Departmental Clearance (D-Clearance) before you can register for the course. Students must contact their department advisor to obtain D-Clearances. Some departments may have online D-clearance forms as well.
Distance Education Network (DEN) - D-Clearance
DEN Students can login to the Master's Portal and click on DEN Tools to access the D-Clearance Request Form.
For more information about gaining access to online resources through DEN, please visit the Getting Started section of the web site and make sure you have created a student profile for access.
Pre-requisites & Waivers
Waiver of pre-requisites vary by academic department. Some departments require students to take the placement exam to waive pre-requisite requirements if the pre-requisite course was not completed at USC. Please contact MAPP to initiate any pre-requisite waiver requests.
Placement Exams
Certain Computer Science and Electrical Engineering courses require successful completion of placement exams before students are allowed to register for a course.
Please refer to the CS and EE web sites for placement exam information
and to sign up online.
Distance Education Network (DEN) - Exams
Off campus DEN students should visit the Exams Policies and Procedures section for assistance with placement exams.

| Course Registration and MyUSC |
 |
Web Registration
All admitted students (On campus and DEN) register for their courses through an online tool called Web Registration.
You can also register in person at the Registrar's Office (REG 101), located on-campus by the intersection of Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard. We strongly recommend that you check your course list the day after you add or drop courses to ensure that all changes have been properly made.
MyUSC Portal
Once students have their email accounts set up, they can access the MyUSC Portal to gain quick access to OASIS, Web Registration, Email, Grades, and more from a single sign on location. Students should use their email username and password to logon.

 |
Verify your registration
Check your registered course list link in OASIS
Check your billing balance and settle your tuition
Please check the academic calendar and be sure to settle your tuition on time to avoid late fees and penalties. Students can use USCepay to review current balances and pay online from OASIS. Please visit the Tuition and Fees section for more information.
Distance Education Network (DEN) - Billing
DEN students who have corporate reimbursement can also take advantage of DEN's flexible deferment program.
Check for required textbooks or software
All students can use OASIS or the USC Bookstore to check for any required textbooks or software.
Obtain your USC ID card
A USC ID card identifies you as a currently enrolled student and can also entitle your access to other privileges and potential uses on and off campus.
Distance Education Network (DEN)
Obtaining a USC ID card is optional for DEN students but can still be acquired through our office.
Courses supported by the Distance Education Network
On campus and off campus students enrolled in sections offered through DEN can gain access to DEN's online Course Management System. All DEN Students (Admitted, Limited, Audit) should create profiles to gain access to their courses online. Additional select services are available to DEN students such as homework and exams support.
