In general, students who have completed their four-year degree (or U.S. bachelor's degree equivalent) in engineering, math or science are eligible to apply for a master's degree.
Spring Deadline - October 1

Application Steps
- Start Application for Graduate Admission
- Take GRE (Graduate Record Exam) General Test and have scores sent by ETS to the USC Office of Admission, ETS code 4852
- GRE Test Details and Registration
- Submit official transcript from Bachelor's Degree Granting Institution (if possible, sent directly from the degree granting instiution) or B.S. equivalent from a non-US institution.
- Submit official transcripts from all other Colleges or Universities attended (if possible, sent directly from the colleges).
- Submit any supplemental application materials (letters of recommendation, statement of purpose) that may be required by the department. See Degree Pages for more information on each department's requirements.
*As USC evaluates applicatons as a whole, we do not have required minimum GPA or GRE scores. For our newly enrolled engineering students, the average undergraduate GPA is 3.37 (on a 4.0 scale) and the average GRE scores are Quantitative 749 and Verbal 478.
International Applicants Only
Please submit the following materials in addition to the application materials listed above:
- TOEFL scores if English is not your first language
- The International Student Confidential Financial Statement of Support (if you plan on bringing family members with you, be certain to complete that section of the form)
- A photocopy of the first two pages of your passport
Application Review
The length of time it takes for an application to be reviewed varies by department and degree program. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis. It is not possible to provide a specific time line. As soon as your application package is complete, it is sent to the graduate committee for review. Once a decision is made, an official decision letter will be sent to you.
